Abstract | BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, champions the global IT profession and the interests of individuals engaged in that profession for the benefit of all. Since 2013, the BCS Bedford Branch has been running a coding competition for Schools to cultivate young computing leaders. The competition showcase how computing is being developed in schools, how it is engaging pupils and enabling them for computing futures. The competition is open to schools in Bedford Borough, Central Bedfordshire, Luton Borough, Milton Keynes and Buckinghamshire areas. In 2018, the competition theme are Online Safety(Y5-6), Fake News(Y7), Identity Theft(Y8), Mobile Phone Security(Y9) and Dark Web(Y10). Students from participating schools will gather at Cranfield University on Thursday 12 July at 1.30pm to find out if they have won. The event shall show off the submissions and the winners are to be presented with prizes. A short tour of Cranfield University shall conclude the meeting. Competition partners includes Computing at School, Bedfordshire Police, Cranfield University and other sponsors. By invitation and priority is given the staff, students and parents of participating schools. | ||||||||||||||||
